Playercentric Game Design

Speaking at our recent Regional Game Dev Summit, University of Tulsa instructor Akram Taghavi-Burris gave a talk on Playercentric Game Design.  Akram is an instructor in the University of Tulsa’s Computer Simulation and Gaming degree program. She also heads up TU’s Computer Simulation and Gaming Conference (CSGC), which is coming up in April!

More videos from our Dev Summit to come!

July 2018 Meeting: Lost Cave of the Ozarks and Kickstarter

If you missed our July meeting, here is the recording.  Adam Miller stopped by to tell us all about his game, Lost Cave of the Ozarks, and its successful Kickstarter campaign. Check out the video for all the lessons he learned along the way. (The volume on the video is super low, but it’s all clear. Turn up your volume and you’ll be able to hear it just fine.)

Be sure to check out Adam’s game over at Game Jolt and try out the free demo!

We are not alone

Believe it or not, there are a few game development groups near Tulsa. First up, obviously, is Oklahoma Game Developers. They meet regularly in Oklahoma City. Just a few hours east, we have the newly formed Northwest Arkansas Game Developers. And a few more hours northeast is the St Louis Game Developer Co-op. The St. Louis folks even have their own YouTube channel (see above). It’s worth keeping an eye on (and so is ours!).

All of these groups are super friendly, and it’s worth reaching out to say hello. Makes some friends, and make some games!

July ’18 Meeting: Lost Cave of the Ozarks & Kickstarter

Our July meeting is set!

Join us this month for a presentation from Adam Miller, creator of Lost Cave of the Ozarks. Adam will be discussing the game’s successful Kickstarter campaign, lessons learned along the way and, of course, he’ll be showing off his gorgeous game!

As usual, we meet at 36 Degrees North in downtown Tulsa.

As always, we will have food courtesy of Techlahoma. Be sure to RSVP on our Meetup.com page so we can order enough food for everyone!

Care for some YouTube?

Did you know that TGD has a YouTube channel? Well, we do! Not too many videos on there just yet, but we do have a handful of tutorials and event recaps, and we’ve recently started streaming and recording our monthly meetings. Check it out, won’t you?

Got suggestions on what you’d like to see featured? Leave some comments on our channel! And of course you can hit us up on Twitter or Facebook.

Hi there

Hello, and welcome to Tulsa Game Developers. We’ve been up and running since January 2016, but we haven’t had an actual website until … well, today 🙂

Hopefully, you’ve already joined us for our monthly meetings at 36 Degrees North, downtown Tulsa’s basecamp for entrepreneurs. If not, we hope you’ll come out to the next meeting! We meet every third Thursday, and you can sign up to be notified on our Meetup.com page here.

We stream our meetings on YouTube most months, and we occasionally post other videos (tutorials, etc), so be sure to check out our channel. You’ll also find us on Facebook, Twitter, and (very rarely) Instagram.

Please join us on social media for the latest info, and keep an eye on this page for announcements and upcoming events. Let’s make some games!
